The other day a 13 yr old boy was riding in the back seat with his friend and he was clowning around and took the middle seat belt and put it around his neck sort of like a noose to make his friend laugh. All of a sudden the seat belt locked and got tight. As he tried to release it, it got tighter. The friends mom who was driving tried to release it but couldn't. The police showed up and cut the belt with a knife. They tried CPR but was too late. Always be aware what your kids are doing.

Now that's weird! - I thought it might be an urban legend, but I found it with a google search.

This happened to a friend of my son's a few years ago. Fortunately, one of the other drivers that stopped had knife and was able to cut the belt. It was very scary situation as his face had turned blue and his nose was bleeding before the were able to cut him free. Now they always keep a knife in the glove box of all their vehicles.

How tragic!

I'm going to get my two 14-year olds to read this. Kids goofing off and being kids. I can see one of them doing this. Thank you HopHop for sharing something that made me aware of one more thing in trying to keep my kids safe.
