We did a tour in the Smokey Mtns this weekend and they offered us, that we could trade our BG week for Wyndham time. Has anyone else been offered this?

If so, does it actually work?

This concept confuses me, can anyone explain it to me and why I would want to do it?

Yes, but why would you want to do this?

What they are offering you is called a "PIC". I also have a "PIC". You would use it by:

- depositing a certain number of points into RCI that is classified as a "week"
- You would call Wyndam and let you know you did this
- Then they would give you Wyndam points for it.

Don't do it because Bluegreen is a great points system. If you want to book at Wyndam resorts just purchase a medium sized package of 154,000 points via Ebay (for $1500 or less), or any other Wyndam Resaler. You can then enjoy both systems. However, Bluegreen is a great system and purchasing Wyndam wouldn't be a great compliment to what you already have UNLESS ... you purchased at a Wyndam that traded with II. Then you would have a "free" II account and a "RCI" account and have great points systems to trade into both trading companies.

Just do a direct exchange with a Wyndham owner whenever you want to go to a Wyndham resort.

It works like this, you buy x number of points from them, they will write down you have a fixed week in y resorts and let you "PIC" that week. The corp will let the contract pass. In theory, you will deposit that week to RCI z month (can not remember, sometime close to 1 year) before th travel day, than call Wyndham to assign the use of that week to Wyndham FSp trust, and the trust will verify that, and give you corresponding points to you. Since your is a point system, so you can not deposit to RCI and get Wyndham point. And with the purchase, they give you some bonus points so in 2 years, you should be either a gold VIP or regularVIP. Than in a few years, the corp will cancel your PIC week, since it is a point system week, and thus can not be used in PIC. So it left you with the developer purchase, no VIP benefit, and probably around $150 per 1k point purchase.

In most of time, you don't want to do that. Buy a resale Wyndham points, you probabbly can find $5 per 1k in MF and $5 / 1k in purchase (including closing). Than if you need, rent points from owner, to make reservation.

If you have too much money, just want to buy something, than that is different story.
