Trading week into a points resort?

We've often talked about using Destinations points into a primarily week resort.

How does it work the other way? That is, to trade a week into a points resort? Looking at trading Ko'Olina to Waikoloa. (Yes, I've done points but if I don't convert the Ko'Olina week is it still possible?)

Also, what about a non Marriott week into a points resort? It is deposited in Interval, but there won't be deposited Waikoloa weeks to get? That week has pulled Ko'Olina, so an okay trader if the stars align.

Thanks...lurked for years, don't think I have ever posted

Just deposit your week into Interval International and trade into the points resort. The process is the same same as any other trade with Interval.

Although if a resort is points only there are no weeks owners to deposit into II so availability may be low.
Get a request in early and search manually too.
Exchanges into Marriott resorts on II using non Marriott weeks are more difficult because of the Marriott priority period but not impossible. In my opinion starting early and being flexible is the key.
Good luck.

I agree with Pamplemousse - it’s rare to see exchanges available for Kauai Lagoons or Waikoloa, and when I’ve seen them, it is usually within FlexChange.

Correct, you're waiting for MVC to deposit a week from points inventory and the volume at high demand places during high demand times is likely to be minimal. I think for HI one has to assume relative off season to have a chance of success.
