Our first trip to HGVC SeaWorld was when the kids were 2 and 5, and we found it was a good fit for us. We got SeaWorld fun cards on Black Friday sale for about $100 a piece and the Sesame Street section there is great. The kids would get in the stroller and we'd walk over to SeaWorld. Plus, we liked the HGVC's playground and the kids were happy enough with the pools, even if they weren't as exciting as other resorts. The deed is lifetime; once the kids are older and at say, universal age vs disney age, the HGVC resorts in Orlando will be great. Once we can spend entire days on the beach many HGVC properties become more attractive too.
We chose HGVC because buying resale vs retail has most of the same benefits and it seems other systems are more strict/cost prohibitive to enter. Also we went to an HGVC presentation so I understand the system more or less (in addition to lurking on these boards).
Why comment on the post with nothing to offer except judgement for someone else's choices? Everybody else on the thread is contributing to the conversation
Also, HGVC in Myrtle Beach gives free mini golf passes and passes to a go cart place that had kids rides, too, so on a 4 day trip there with a 7 year old and a 4 year old, we only went to the beach once.
We do wish HGVC was in a few more locations, though.
You might have luck finding a "last minute" extra vacation at a Wyndham on RCI. We saw a good deal for the Williamsburg area on there, though we ended up booking elsewhere.
