The deed is lifetime; once the kids are older and at say, universal age vs disney age, the HGVC resorts in Orlando will be great. Once we can spend entire days on the beach many HGVC properties become more attractive too.

We chose HGVC because buying resale vs retail has most of the same benefits and it seems other systems are more strict/cost prohibitive to enter. Also we went to an HGVC presentation so I understand the system more or less (in addition to lurking on these boards).

Why comment on the post with nothing to offer except judgement for someone else's choices? Everybody else on the thread is contributing to the conversation
Our first trip to HGVC SeaWorld was when the kids were 2 and 5, and we found it was a good fit for us. We got SeaWorld fun cards on Black Friday sale for about $100 a piece and the Sesame Street section there is great. The kids would get in the stroller and we'd walk over to SeaWorld. Plus, we liked the HGVC's playground and the kids were happy enough with the pools, even if they weren't as exciting as other resorts.

Also, HGVC in Myrtle Beach gives free mini golf passes and passes to a go cart place that had kids rides, too, so on a 4 day trip there with a 7 year old and a 4 year old, we only went to the beach once.

We do wish HGVC was in a few more locations, though.

You might have luck finding a "last minute" extra vacation at a Wyndham on RCI. We saw a good deal for the Williamsburg area on there, though we ended up booking elsewhere.

Sorry, but what does Disney owners are blocked mean? Don't really understand
Disney (DVC) owners have access to Interval International for trades. However, DVC owners can not trade their Disney points to stay at a non-Disney resort in the Orlando area. I think the radius is something like 50 miles.

Thanks for the info. Myrtle Beach is where we were sold on HGVC...Ocean Enclave and Anderson are so nice! Ironically Hilton has a beachfront resort with a water park in Myrtle Beach but it's not HGVC :-(

In the process of buying HGVC points (through resale, fingers crossed it passes ROFR).
Sorry, but I missed this part earlier. I am sure that your purchase will pass ROFR. I hope that everything works out as you expect. On the bright side, you are purchasing resale so much cheaper than retail. It will also give you an opportunity to "try out HGVC". If you need to change something in the future (such as purchase more points), that option is easily available.

Update: passed ROFR and deed was transferred to me. About 3 weeks for ENTIRE process. Super quick. John Hamlet (tochoa25 on ebay) and his team are fantastic.

Only snag so far is I can't access the RCI portal but I'll give it a few days.

Looking forward to timesharing!

I have worked with John and his team and I concur on how easy they are to work with.

Cheers.

Update 2: accessed rci and booked a stay at Bonnet creek, which had a points discount going. 4600 points for 5 nights in a 2bd.

Keeping an eye out for the great smokies property...very limited inventory for extra vacations but not within our timeline.

I'll keep an eye out on Sightings too
