Question for some of you who have figured out the math. Next yr my husband and I along with our daughter will be going on a cruise that is part of our Encore package purchased in 2014!! We will not be going on any other vacation that yeR as our other 2 children will be living in a large Ontario city going to school/ working. i have found about 4 hotels that are 10000 points with breakfast included. We have stayed at one and it was very nice. WOULD IT BE WORTH TRADING FOR POINTS? We have 1500 points.
Thanks for any input. The closest resort to us is 16 hours so a weekend away is not an option nor is a Sun to thursday for 2017.

There are only a very few domestic USA/Canada hotels (not resorts) that are worth paying with MR points.

I take it that you own only 1,500 Trust Points? If that is the case, you can only convert 50% of those to MR points at a 32:1 ratio. So you can convert 750 points to 24,000 MR points. That will get you two nights with 4,000 MR points to spare. Those 750 points cost $375 in MFs. Are two nights at the hotel you are looking at worth $375 including tax? If so, then it might be a decent use of points, otherwise, I wouldn't bother. Just bank the points to the next year and have 3,000 points for 2018!

I think the price to book the hotels is about 170 per night. If the canadian dollar was at par it would not be a terrible waste of points, but add on 40 percent exchange and it is not worth it. guess i will bank them.
