Trying to choose a cruise on Tradewinds. We're looking into French Polynesia or Fiji (Yasawas and Mamanucas) or Tonga. We haven't gone to the South Pacific yet. I believe the best time to go is between June and September. There is limited availability.

Do you have any suggestions about these trips? If you've done more than one, which did you prefer? In Tonga, half the time is spent on land, so we're inclined to book one of the other cruises.

Thanks for your help

Been to Fiji and to FP. Did not hit the Tonga location yet for the vary reason you mentioned, it is a land/sea combo.

Fiji is easier to get to the base, as the base is easily accessible from NADI airport, it only takes a cab ride. FP on the other hand requires an interisland flight and generally is a bit more costly to fly. NOTE Fiji goes out on Saturdays but FP goes out on a Friday, which mean for this base you have to leave the US on Tues or Wednesday just to get there in time. At this present time FP only have Luxury boats, so you will get a upgrade for an RCI exchange. Fiji has both Cruising and Luxury, but the cruising boats are the new ones that are fantastic too.

Both are great options, and would recommend either.

Thanks Sandy. On the new cruising boats, is air conditioning always available or is it at the discretion of the captain (which is the case in the old cruising class boats)

At the decretion of the captain. It gets cooled off to get ready for dinner then turned off so dinner is quiet, and then turned on again after dinner until about midnight. But I have had captains run it all night if it is hot.
