Trade Marriott Week for Points - When is this Avail

I was in vacation club and tried to trade my 2010 year for points. The system only shows me the 2009 week as avail for booking.

When should I expect Marriott to allow me to trade my 2010 year in for points?

I wouldn't expect the 2010 reservation options to appear online until sometime in late Dec/early Jan.

...and when you do trade your 2010 week for points, those points won't show up in your Marriott Rewards account until about September 2009.

In theory, those points shouldn't show up in your account until January 2010 because you aren't entitled to use your 2010 week until 2010. But Marriott normally credits points as much as three-four months before the start of the year.

My understanding is that, if you want to trade your 2010 usage for points, you can do so anytime between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.

We are still in 2008, so you're jumping the gun by a few months. Wait until sometime in January 2009.

As Dave says, don't expect Marriott to credit those points right away. They might not show up in your account until as late as September 2009.

You will of course pay a fee for trading for points. In the past, I think this was just over $100.

I haven't traded for point. I thought I had to trade for point by the beginning of 2009 since 2009 is the year you have to reserve your 2010 week. I am soo glad I asked the question on this board.
