We have Manor Club (home resort) booked over the 4th of July, but Little League baseball for our 2 kids will mean that we can't use the week. I have already placed a request first for Custom House in Boston for a 2 week window in August (I know small window may be hard to get trade). Requesting input on the following options:
  • Adding more Marriott locations (Fairway Villas to see someplace new with history near by) or Lakeshore Reserve (have been to Orlando)
  • Received AC offer for our week - just not certain with kids activities if an additional week is worth the deposit - is it worth adding locations and making it a deposit?
  • Post our week for rent on TUG or Redweek - seems kind of early for people to belooking at July vacation, but would be a great week to be in Williamsburg.

Thanks for the advice and input!

I'd open up choices

If it were me I'd start looking for additional travel options in August.....(depending on what you find you can decide if the AC will be a worthy bonus). I'd hate to totally give up my summer vacation by selling my week so that would be my final option and I think you have time if you decide to go that way.
As for other options.....I have a hugh bucket list of places so it wouldn't be hard for me to expand beyond the few you listed even if you just wanted to stay East Coast. I (and most kids) love the beaches in the summer.......(Orland is definitely NOT my favorite summer destination!)
Good luck.

I don't understand how this is possible. If you have the July 4th week reserved, your exchange must be completed by then with a request first, so how can you have a request first in for August?

I was wondering the same thing. Is the rule different if you are only trying to trade into another Marriott?

I think that as long as II can confirm her request into Boston in AUgust prior to the start of her week at Manor Club then it would work and they have 7 months to do that. I don't think that she has to actually take the trip in a week prior to the week she is using for trade it just has to be filled prior to her MMC week

I think you may be right for Marriott-to-Marriott exchanges.

Got the Trade!

We got the trade for MSE (Manor Club Sequel) to Custom House for August 2012!! May have to alter our travel plans to catch a Red Sox game as the actual week we are there, Sox are out of town. Two sons would think it a crime not to visit Fenway for a game!
Will be searching past posts for Custom House suggestions (one key is not to rent a car except for a day trip).

You'll enjoy

You'll enjoy Custom House. We were there with our boys (ages 8 and 11) for Thanksgiving week.

We needed a car to drive to Pilmoth Plantation and to drive to Concord (saw old north bridge... and followed the Patriot road with several stops). The rest of the time we used the public transportation system (very easy!).

Whatever you do -- plan to walk from Custom House to Mike's Pastry's several times during the week! It's a cash only place. I'm not normally a dessert person, but I could become one if I lived near this place. Try the Ricotta Pie... in fact take one back to the Custom House and eat for breakfast the next day. Sure bets Dunkin Doughnuts! :whoopie:
