Newbie here, looking to purchase within the vistana network. If I was to find something at one resort for an amazing deal worth 148,100 points and it's a fixed week. Can I float that week to another date at the same resort if the week 8 doesn't work for us? Or can I float that week at another resort as long as the points value is equal to or less?

Also, buying resale....I have to join vistana? It's a yearly fee? Points values work at any resort within the network?

Thanks in advance?

Need more details.

Depends on the resort, and if it's a mandatory resort that includes ability to use the points at other resorts, then you would need to join the vistana program with the annual fee.

Amazing deals (i.e. free, or close to) typically aren't the mandatory resorts. But if it's clear that the 148,100 points transfer to the new owner, that sounds like a mandatory resort. Otherwise you're just buying the week.

The only resort that I know of with a fixed week 8 and 148,000 points would be a 2 BR lockoff at Harborside and with the MF's over $3000 even getting a unit for free (which meant the old owner paid the $2000+ transfer costs and perhaps threw in another $3600 in MF's to give free use) expect it to cost $5000+ to get rid of it if it doesn't work for you.

If this is Harborside, the maintenance fee is too high - there are much better options and they are in the US.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes it is harbor side. I see on redweek that there are several free. Even one here in the free section. I was going to take one and just exchange it for 2 weeks Hawaii EOY. I probably definitely don’t understand how this works. I know I would only be able to book 8 months in advance.

Harborside is great if you want to go to harborside….. I wouldn’t buy harborside to trade to other resorts. The MF is extremely high. You’re better off buying where you want to go, in this case hawaii.

Harborside fees are high, but not that much higher than Hawaii. Almost the same.

Yes. I noticed for comparison the Maui weeks are around 500.00 per week less MF in some instances. I am just having a hard time with the overall cost to get into Maui direct. Harbor side gets me in the door for free and I just trade in. I really want fixed weeks and fixed unit. i found some at the MOC that we like but they are expensive. Plus even considering fixed weeks 51-52 but those are expensive too. But floating is a much better price point. Just not sure what these weeks are all worth in reality.
