TPI no longer accepting our Wyndham week (home resort Waikiki Beachwalk)

Hi,

We are Wyndham owners (Waikiki Beachwalk) and receive 168k points alternating even years. Despite our low points, for several years, I was able to deposit a week in our point range from Wyndham into TPI. When the Waikiki Beachwalk was no longer accepted by TPI, I booked the Wyndham Mauna Loa and deposited that week. I booked a week yesterday and when I tried to deposit it into TPI, it was rejected. The email mentioned that TPI could’t verify it despite it appearing correctly under my Wyndham reservations. I was on the phone with Wyndham and TPI numerous times, and the last information that I received was that TPI will only accept our home base as a deposit and since they no longer accept Waikiki Beachwalk, I’m out of luck unless I buy a new contract at an accepted home base, which is not possible for us. Since we can no longer use TPI, are there any other exchange programs besides RCI which accepts a Wyndham week or points, and/or offer bonus weeks for a Wyndham deposit?

Thanks in advance,
Bonnie

Unfortunately the short answer is no. You might be able to use SFX but Wyndham doesn't like to verify deposits at any of the smaller independent exchange companies. They had a relationship with TPI specifically for Hawaii weeks only but it seems like that is no more. Interval Internationals parent company may have bought TPi a few years back and that would explain the end of that relationship.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

As mentioned above, I think this is/was a new change stemming from Marriott's acquisition of ILG (which owns TPI). So more a TPI - Wyn thing.

To cut-off the practice of reserving a low points Wyndham week (Mauna Loa was the specific resort that was mentioned to me) and depositing it into TPI. A practice that Wyndham used to promote as a way of getting a good deposit plus a bonus week.

Thank you. That change cut us off at the knees due to our low points. I can look into buying resale Wyndham points, but the thought of investing anymore money into a timeshare makes me cringe.
