I booked a week for next summer with my family at the MVC Marbella Beach Resort. I am interested in taking day trips to Sevilla, Granada, Gibraltar and Morocco. Does anyone have the tour descriptions that leave from the hotel? Or do you recommend we set them up ourselves to get picked up at the hotel? Besides the 4 day tours I mentioned, any other recommendations of places to see?

Our Marbella concierge was awesome for our May trip. We did Morocco through her and worth every penny. They use a premier guide that MVC found years ago.
We also rented a car for a few days and did Sentinel and Ronda on our own as a day trip. Car drop off and pick up from the resort. Painless...

Reach out now and they'll send the major offerings. Granada tickets are hard to come by and they couldn't get a quorum for our trip, so missed that.

Rent a car and drive along the coast. Beautiful yachts, lots of restaurants. Also, there's the Picasso house in Malaga.

We did Spain last summer (playa anndaluza) and did Grenada (Alhambra) and Seville via car and on our own. Seville was a drive, but doable. Totally doable, freeways are good and well marked. I recall Alhambra required some timed tickets. There were lots of websites selling guided tour tickets (much higher priced) vs the official website.

We didn’t do Gibraltar or Morroco.

We did the Caminito del Rey which was spectacular. Easy to get to, the vistas were great, and having a guide was a lot of fun to get history and background. Super cool day.

There are so many things to do, picking and choosing, may be the most difficult part of your trip! Have fun.

Our son was studying in Sevilla so we spent a week there and loved it!! So much to see and experience. We did drive to Gibraltar on the way to Playa Andaluza and thought the one day was plenty - maybe there is more to see. We did hire a van to take us up on the Rock and experience the monkeys, the cave and the history - was worth the money and efficiency of touring the Rock. We drove back to Sevilla via Ronda, but the day was quite rainy, would liked to have spent more time exploring Ronda but weather was just not good. The Marbella coast has many "international" restaurants that cater to the European "snowbirds" so there is every type of food available.

You may be having a bit of tunnel vision here. I suggest you consider also visits to Gaucín (several nice dining spots), Jimena de la Frontera, Antequera, Benahavis, Málaga, Córdoba, Nerja, Frigiliana, Solabreña, etc. Even Fuengirola and La Cala de Mijas are good options. And then there is Mijas Pueblo (not to be missed). They are why we have returned many times to southern Spain.

We were just at the Playa Andaluza and had a car so we did not take one of the group tours. But they had those you listed plus Caminito del Rey; Ronda; Malaga; Cordoba; Cadiz; Antequera & El Torcal; Nerja & Frigiliana. We stayed a few nights in an AirBNB in Seville before our stay at the Playa, and did self driven day trips to Ronda & Setenil, Caminito del Rey, Marbella (twice), Puerto Banus, and Estepona. However, they did cancel a couple due to lack of interest or unable to get tickets for the Alhambra. Driving is mostly easy enough, though the streets can be very narrow and Apple Maps messed up on several trips and sent us in the wrong route.

Online I see that you can buy tickets to Alhambra and it looks pretty easy to get. Did you hear about people buying their own tickets and driving themselves?

You might also want to take a look at this company, who offer a comprehensive range of tours in the area and some great ideas

I'm sure there are people driving themselves and buying tickets direct. We would have but we ran out of time, and had a bit of driving fatigue from going so many other places.
