With my Summer plans in tatters, I'm filling the time by planning a December snow trip.
So far, I've got a week in Park City, UT, for late December. Next up, flights using up credits.

It sure is nice to dream, but OTOH, what's the rush? Perhaps I should hold off for a month?

It is good to dream. As long as you can reschedule, then go ahead and rebook!

Already planning next summers family vacation! We have two free changeable placeholders for 2021. One for the family vacation and one for a yet to be determined couples trip for me and the wife.

This is what we are doing personally.

We have already cancelled our May trip. We will most likely (just can't bear to say definitely) will cancel our trip in October. We are not going to plan anything more for this year. We do have an ongoing search for March 2021 for Maui. That is the soonest we are planning. And dd and I have a river cruise already planned for May 2021. We haven't gotten our airfare or hotels on either end of the cruise, but it's too early to book any of that yet.

I just rebooked our trip to Hawaii from May to October. Not really sure that happen, i will have to monitor the situation. In some ways it increase my stress level to rebook, but i figured there was no way anything would happen if i didn't try.

Used my AC from Interval for a week in Colorado this summer (road trip). Hoping to do our annual trip to CT and ME in October. Otherwise, nothing till probably May of next year.

I just booked an October week in the Wisconsin Dells for what should be pretty prime leaf-peeping season. My daughter starts her graduate program in Madison next Fall, and that's in the neighborhood so we can pay her a visit and it is a drive-to destination for us.

Exactly!
Even though I had to scrub a Hawaii vacation this year, I am already plotting and planning for trips after July. We have a trip scheduled then that is within driving distance so I hope that one will be possible, practical and reasonable..

We already had Hawaii vacations planned for December and January (each reserved 365 days in advance).

I feel like I'm playing double-or-nothing already.

I booked Sedona week for early November and Steamboat ski week for early December. Planing trips keeps me focused on future fun.

We have our annual trip to NYC scheduled for October. We suspect that this will be canceled. Haven’t scheduled anything in 2021. Concerned about that round 2 of Corona will occur late fall or winter

I am still looking to plan trips for the summer. Just local getaways for the family. Hoping we still can go to Tahoe in Oct.

2021 is still being planned based on our school schedule.

Does anyone feel it will be safe to travel In October 2020?

We are thinking if it is a drive-to location, October will probably be the earliest. We will most likely be cancelling our 2 drive-to trips in September but we are still planning to make our Thanksgiving trip, which is another drive-to location.

I hope so! We plan on heading to the Pacific NW mid-October to visit my two sisters, their DHs & their families. DBiL used his Worldmark points for a 3 bedroom unit in Baine WA that will accommodate us, sisses and spouses.

I am guardedly optimistic that DH & I will be able to take our t/s vacation to New Bern NC that starts 6/27. From there we head to DD, DSiL and DGSs near Charelston for the 4th. After that we plan on meeting friends in Boone NC for the Highland Festival; however, I anticipate that the festival is likely to be cancelled barring a breakthrough in dealing with EOVID-19.

Not my dh. We are scheduled to go to RI and NYC beginning of October. He has said he wants to cancel that trip. To be fair, we are both over 65 and both have health issues. This isn't the trip of a lifetime as we've been going to NYC around this time for the last few years. If it makes him uncomfortable to be traveling then, we'll cancel. And I think a lot of it has to do with NYC. He's just not sure what things will be like there.

We plan most of our trips 18 to 24 months out. Then start reserving 10 to 14 months out.

Yes at least domestically. It is simply unreasonable to expect people to NOT resume actual living (and not just surviving in place) longer term. Remember the travel industry is huge and has lots of ripple effects for the economy too. This will eventually be more like a seasonal illness with flareups/hot spots that can be handled as they happen-instead of this draconian one size fits all approach right now while we are still in the learning curve.
And it is fun and sanity saving to plan anyway lol!

Until there is a vaccine or/and highly effective treatment, it will not be like a seasonal illness.

I am going to circle round and answer the original question again.

Original question: "Is is too soon to plan another trip?"

No, it's never too soon to plan a trip.

Yes, it's too soon to take another trip, or plan one for only a few months out.
