Can you please give more details? That's right. That is what sales just said.
Are their lips moving? Then it's probably a lie.
We all know if it comes from a salesperson’s mouth it MUST be true. That’s not even believable lies. Plus, the sales people have no more insight into the new benefits then we do. They are the second to last to know. We are the last.
But honestly, it is probably one of the first life lessons imparted to us, DO NOT LIE!!
So saying that all 1.4 million point owners will now be getting Presidential Reserve benefits entirely takes out any more sales of Presidential Reserve. Why pay the high price when you don't have to?
LOL, we did for a while until they get old enough that having them taking up the living room makes my vacation less fun. We get two or three bedrooms nowI make my kid sleep on the couch and planned to keep that as the norm for her and my future 2nd child, but I guess I can spoil them a little with an actual bed.
They had this "friends and family" benefit that was advertised under advantage. Maybe they will make VIP owners make a list of people who can use their membership, but not actually let them rent out to whomever unless they are 1.4M or above? I feel like it's the VIP platinum owners that mainly use their ownership to generate extra income. At best, I only get $10/thousand for my rentals so I couldn't care less about guest certificates (if my husband has a job). I own maybe 150,000 points more than I can actually use in a year when I am sparing with my points, but I can always just start using 2 bedrooms and presidentials. I make my kid sleep on the couch and planned to keep that as the norm for her and my future 2nd child, but I guess I can spoil them a little with an actual bed.
Another loophole closing that has been abused. The elimination of GC's would help owners book the limited availability and also take advantage of the 60 day discount window for personal use. The owners renting millions of points may have to rethink their strategy moving forward. This was actually something that we suggested to Wyndham when we were making recommendations for new benefits for the Privileges program several months back, so perhaps they were listening. The "friends and family" benefit is still listed on the Privileges brochure for Advantage.
I agree you should be able to rent the extra points you can't use to a point. I have a problem with mega renters securing prime locations and timeframes inventory to rent that other owners need/want, but it's not available other than renting it from Wyndham Extra Holidays or another owner. It doesn't matter what a sales weasel said about renting. Renting is not mentioned in the contracts. The Wyndham directory states you can not use your timeshare for a commercial venture. I assume that means renting.Fact is, if you don't use your points in any given year, it's your right to rent your ownership because it's deeded and it's something you pay for. Why should you not be allowed to rent what you cannot use. That is how they sold it to us many years ago.
I would like to get rid of some of my points, but Wyndham says all or none for their takeback program. I cannot pick out some contracts at Fairfield Bay and give those back. We own quite a few there and quite a few at Kingsgate. If I got rid of all of those, our daughter wouldn't have to rent anything for us. I could actually use most of the points ourselves with RCI exchange for our Hawaii stays.
They added that after that is how they sold it. I remember the first presentation they went to, which ironically was Maui, and the salesman said we could PIC all of our weeks that we owned in CO. That was a lot of weeks. There was no limit back then. It was May of 2005. Then we did buy two years later and the limit of two weeks was in place. Too bad we didn't do it sooner.I agree you should be able to rent the extra points you can't use to a point. That phrase is a way for Wyndham to cover their A$$ . They are fully aware of how many lies and deceitful tactics the sales weasels use. It is part of the sales strategy. Even If you know the system and question them about a lie they try to convince you something has changed or you just don't know the system that well. We've owned for almost 30 years. I heard a lot of BS from sales weasels over the years. Most were lies to try to make a sale. Anything goes, but if it's not in print don't count on it. There is a phrase in the contract that basically says, nothing you were told during the meeting matters if it's not written into the signed contract. In other words, if it's not in the contract, it's moot.

As far as I know, it's all or nothing for Limited Edition, but not last I heard for Ovation (when I returned 2 of our 5 contracts last year).
