Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairground – November 27, 2008 – January 4, 2009For a dazzling spectacle of lights, head to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, where the infield of the racetrack will be transformed with over 400 lighted family-oriented displays. Displays are organized by themes, including Candy Cane Lane, Toyland, Treasures by the Lake, the Twelve Days of Christmas and Elves at Play.
The event is the largest animated drive-through holiday light show on the West Coast, allowing visitors the opportunity to view the creations from the comfort of their cars as they drive along a 1.5-mile route while enjoying festive holiday music.
The display is open from 5:30 to 10:00 pm, Sundays through Thursdays, and 5:30 to 11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

SeaWord’s Holiday Celebration – November 28 – December 31, 2008SeaWorld celebrates the festive season by transforming the park into a spectacular nighttime wonderland. Colourful holiday decorations, live reindeer and strolling musicians set the stage for this fun-filled family event. Special presentations, such as Shamu’s “Holiday Night” show and Clyde and Seamore’s “Night Before Christmas” show will have you cheering, while evening carolers, festive photo backdrops and the Skytower Tree of Lights add to the holiday ambiance.

San Diego Wild Animal Park Festival of Lights – December 6 – December 30, 2008The Wild Animal Park celebrates the holidays with the annual Festival of Lights, as the park is illuminated in twinkling lights. Enjoy some seasonal cheer with a storyteller who shares holiday tales, while Santa and his safari friends mingle with children, and everyone delights in up-close exotic animal encounters and nighttime Journey into Africa tours. In addition, guests can enjoy sliding down 100 feet of snowy hill, face painting for kids and the chance to make holiday crafts.
For a better look at the lighted atmosphere, guests can fly on Balloon Safari, comfortably floating onboard the silent, tethered helium balloon 400 feet above the Park.

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights – December 14 and December 21, 2008San Diego’s harbor glitters with holiday lights at this annual tradition, a gift from the boating community to America’s Finest City. Come down to view the parade of watercraft big and small, all decked out in holiday lights, as they cruise through the bay.
The festivities begin on both evenings at 5:30 pm with a fireworks display followed immediately by the light parade, which begins at Shelter Island and ends in Coronado. For more information, including where to go for the best vantage point, visit
