have not been to maui for many years and will be puting in a request with II soon. We have a 2 bedroom that we are exchanging and would like to know what are the favorites on maui .

The highest rated properties on Maui are the Westin Ka'anapali North and South, and the Marriott, but it takes a strong trader and some luck to exchange for them.

Best practice is to put in your request 12 mos. or more out, with a very strong trader, for a wide time frame.

Which resort and which week for some reason, the best advise you can get is the generic stuff that Denise gave you.

Now if you want to know if you have a chance of getting a Prime Whale season Maui 2 bedroom , you will need to have a super high demand week. Prime ski week 8, Christmas, New years, etc in a premium rated resort. If you have one of these, all you need is someone 2 deposit the 2 bedroom instead of splitting the unit. Getting a 1 bedroom or a studio may be a much better bet for an exchange.

So according to II the good months are the summer months

Weeks 24-34, and it has the Laurels, if you deposit a 2 bedroom you should have pretty good luck getting a 1 bedroom or larger on Maui for March 2013 as long as you search the area not just the top 3 or 4 resorts
Doesn't expect to get a Marriott or a Westin, as they rent for $$$$ during Whale season and as the Developer controls what II gets , they don't give them many if any Prime weeks,

Quality resort
Area where demand is higher than supply

In general, you will find that Tuggers will not post the names of specific resorts that are strong traders, because in the past when this happened, there would be a rush to buy at the resort, deposits would increase, supply would increase, and the trading value of the specific resort would go down.

Fairmont for Maui exchange

FYI we recently returned from a week's vacation in Maui, first week in February. We had no difficulty exchanging one of our Prime Golf timeshare weeks from Fairmont Villas (Hillside, Riverside), now called Sunchaser Vacation Villas. We stayed at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort North • KAN.

Granted we started to search the Interval International exchange system during last summer with our deposited week in hand, but we did not need to put a request into the system. We have never had to put in a system request for a destination, but we do plan and search ahead as much as 8 - 12 months to find what we want.

We have used our Fairmont Prime Golf timeshare floating weeks to exchange for 1 & 2 bedroom units in 5-star resorts during prime time periods for over 14 years, in Arizona, Hawaii, Texas, Virginia, Palm Springs, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, San Diego, San Francisco, New Orleans, Spain, Malaysia and Thailand.

Bottom line : excellent trading value for Fairmont / Sunchaser.

It's great that you have had such great exchanges, but putting in an ongoing request is the best way to get an exchange - all ongoing requests are filled before any inventory goes into the online inventory.
