Timeshare points should be treated like money. Every year you pay for an allocation and it is up to you to get the most value out of your points. I try to get three times my maintenance fees when comparing rental rates of rooms on sites like Tripadvisor.

I also discuss how important it is to plan. And to understand your timeshare timelines for booking, last minute specials, and peak seasons. It is important to know what the value you can get for an exchange to RCI/II or hotel points. By considering points like a salary, you take the perspective to spend it wisely.
