In this video, I review six different timeshares in the Waikoloa area on the Big island of Hawaii. Waikoloa is located about 20 miles north of the Kailua Kona airport. I have stayed in all six of these timeshare (a tough job but someone has to do it)... The six are Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) Bay Club, HGV Kohala Suites, HGV Ocean Tower, HGV King’s land, Marriott Waikoloa Ocean Club, and Paniolo Greens (Wyndham).

The Summary results for the timeshares is below.... A 6 being the best and a 1 being the worst ... My subjective perspective. The criteria are subjective so if you had used a different set of criteria, different results are possible.

Bay Club - Largest rooms, short walk to the ocean, huge decks

1. Room Sizes and Points
   1. One (825 Sq Ft) and two (1283 Sq Ft.) bedrooms.
   2. Standard 4800 (approx. $800) points for one bedroom and 7000 (Approx. $1200) points for two bedroom
2. Swimming pools

1. 1. Two pools.
   2. Both pools are relatively small… No water slides but Jacuzzi’s a available
2. Close to the Ocean
   1. Depending on unit about 1/4 to 1/2 mile
   2. Shuttle available to Hilton Waikoloa hotel
3. Availability
   1. Normally available
   2. Multiple options during off peak season
4. Other Amenities (food, Parking, Art, entertainment, etc…)
   1. Food available by the adult pool plus entertainment
   2. Good fitness center
   3. Plenty of Grills
   4. Free parking

Kohala Suites - Nice balcony, kid friendly pool with snack bar, and access to Hilton Waikoloa

1. Room Sizes and Points
   1. Two (1150 Sq Ft.) bedrooms.
   2. standard 7000 points for two bedroom (Approx. $1200)
2. Swimming pools
   1. One pool
   2. Pools has water slides and Jacuzzi
3. Close to the Ocean
   1. Depending on unit about 1/2 mile
   2. Shuttle available to Hilton Waikoloa hotel
4. Availability
   1. Normally available
   2. Multiple options during off peak season
5. Other Amenities (food, Parking, Art, entertainment, etc…)
   1. Food available by the pool
   2. Plenty of Grills
   3. Free parking

King’s Land - Best pools and close to main highway for getting around the island

   1. Two (1150 Sq Ft.) bedrooms.
   2. standard 7000 points for two bedroom (Approx. $1200)

   1. Four pools
   2. Pools has water slides and Jacuzzi
3. Close to the Ocean
   1. Depending on unit about 1 mile
   2. Shuttle available to Hilton Waikoloa hotel
4. Availability
   1. Normally available
   2. Multiple options during off peak season
5. Other Amenities (food, Parking, Art, entertainment, etc…)
   1. Food available by the pool
   2. Nightly Entertainment at the pool bar
   3. Plenty of Grills
   4. Free parking

Ocean Tower - Stay here if you want to have ocean views, no rental car, and access to the hotel

   1. Two (877 Sq Ft.) bedrooms.
   2. Standard 10,500 points (Approx. $1800) for two bedroom (17,250 Points or $3000 for partial Ocean View)
   3. One Bedroom (4800 Points or $800) 590 Sq ft. (7200 Points or $1200 for a Partial for Ocean View)
   4. Studio (no Kitchen 3400 Points or $600)
2. Swimming pools
   1. Two pools
   2. Pool has water slides and Jacuzzi
   3. Use hotel pools also
3. Close to the Ocean
   1. Can be ocean view or short walk to the ocean
   2. Walk or take the tram to Hilton Waikoloa hotel
4. Availability
   1. Normally available
   2. Multiple options during off peak season

Marriott Waikoloa - Beach, pools, barbecue, good restaurants … Full service location

   1. One bedroom (800 Square Feet) Two Bedroom (1200 square feet)
   2. One bedroom 2585+ points ($1700) and two bedroom 4175+ points (approx. $3000)
2. Swimming Pools
   1. Two large Pools
   2. Several hot tubs
3. Close to the Ocean
   1. Right on the Ocean
   2. Excellent beach with chairs available as well as beach rentals (snorkel, etc…)
4. Availability
   1. Need to book well in Advance
   2. part of the complex is hotel rooms
5. Other Amenities (food, Parking, Art, entertainment, etc…)
   1. Multiple bars and restaurants, fitness center, regular music shows… This is a full service location
   2. Paid parking
   3. Three Grills
   4. Beach rentals

Paniolo Greens - Large two bedroom units with sunset views

1. Room Sizes and Points
   1. Two Bedroom (1400 square feet)
   2. 12000 points (approx. $1000)
2. Swimming Pools
   1. One Pool
   2. Relatively small pool
3. Close to the Ocean
   1. About 6 miles from the ocean
   2. Sunsets still visible from the grounds
4. Availability
   1. Mostly available as a Worldmark / Wyndham owner
   2. Often available on RCI.
5. Other Amenities (food, Parking, Art, entertainment, etc…)

   2. Free parking
   3. Plenty of Grills
