timeshare presentations in Cancun/Cozumel

We would be interested in doing some timeshare tours in Playa/Cancun/Cozumel if we could get discount tickets to attractions in the area (Xcaret, ruins, etc.). Are these typically offered, or is it mainly cash? If it is cash, how much were you able to get? We are staying at the Grand Mayan in Playa, and then three nights in Cancun. Also, I have read how high pressure the sales pitches are - we have a pretty good system down to get out quickly (own in S. Africa already). Are they lots more time and high pressure than what you have experienced in the USA? If you have toured specific resorts, your feedback on the tour, as well as the incentive you received, would be much appreciated.

Have only been to Mayan Palace in Mexico and would NEVER go back. Generally speaking, NO presentation in Mexico is worth the time unless you have nothing else to do.

The standard going rate to attend a timeshare presentation in the Cancun area, including Playa, is $100 U.S. In my dealings with the body snatcher types, I found out they receive approximately $200 per body (couple) that attends the presentation. The $100 gift is deducted from the $200 leaving the body snatcher with $100. I have been able to get the offer to attend up to $175 by explaining that $25 is better than nothing (Veinte cinco es major de nada!).

At the Royal Resorts you will get brunch and either t shirts or a backpack.

They're not into the high dollar gifts or the high pressure sales. They are great resorts, but their presentations are probably not what you are looking for.

Cancun is no Cabo.......THANK GOD!

If you are looking to waste a ton of time and get paid $200-$400 per day wasted in the sales room, Cancun is not your place.

I suspect you are used to Cabo, but like others have said the going rate is only about $50 to $100 and that is mostly just at the High Pressure places, the best ones like the Royal Resorts you only get a meal and a small gift which is how it should be (low pressure) for high quality resort, very low rescend percentage and ultimately happy owners. As you can tell not a fan of high pressure sales or taking advantage of resorts by just going for cash.

My suggestion would be to just enjoy Cancun/Playa this time and schedule a trip to Cabo for taking tours for cash next time!

Enjoy Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Do not waste your time on a high pressure sales presentation that will last far longer than advertised. The so called gifts and discounts are just not worth it.
