Resorts Owned
Vistana Resort and Vacation Village .
We went to a meeting in June 2025 at the Hampton Inn in Rochester .We were there to listen to a group EMPOWER to get out of our Timeshares,Vistana Resorts and Vacation Village in Florida . Ive seen now that we were scammed. We gave them a downpmt and then a ck for 9000.😭😭 We just want to get out . The hotel hosted Jason Pride , and his son Reese Pride, and his supposed brother in law Jerry Givens . They claim to be attorneys. They told us to stop paying our maintenance fees and any pmts . Dont answer calls from the Timeshares .How do these people sleep at night . My husband just got let go from his job 6 months before his contract ends and we have bills to pay. Do we have any way of recooping our money . I emailed our atty to see if he can help ...HELP😥😢😭

very sorry you fell for one of these scams, they are so very common because they are so very effective!

while this is intended to be for folks lied to during a sales presentation, it provides some great options for folks who are scammed by anyone!

also that name has come up a number of times on the forums, all for the same sort of schemes

Sadly your money is long gone. The scammers are likely as long gone as well.

I must say though that I wouldn't be surprised if a sharp Attorney might be interested in taking on your case...... He/she might just go after the Hampton Inn Company for allowing these fraudsters to use their premises to scam hard working folks like yourself out of outrageous amounts of cash.

Start with the Consumer Protection Division of your State Attorney's Office and see if they have any interest in pursuing this (after all presumably you weren't the only person who was scammed during that presentation). Going this route won't personally cost you a nickel (versus using a private Attorney).

Welcome to TUG.

Are there any timeshare "exit" & timeshare "cancellation" operations that aren't scams & ripoffs & bamboozles & hornswoggles ?

I would pursue a complaint through the NY Attorney General's office. It is particularly bothersome that they are able to use Hilton branded hotels that could imply some level of legitimacy. The hotel sales department isn't motivated to screen groups that hold functions there, but it's aiding and abetting a crime. I am aware of a similar meeting offered in Western NY last year.

I would suspect that any contract these outfits sign with the hotel operators have hold harmless clauses in them. There is little chance anyone is going to get something out of the hotel or restaurant operator where these meetings are held.

I doubt any clause like that would prevent legal action, especially if you could prove that they were aware of previous complaints.

Also, you must not be familiar with the NY AG.

Are you aware of any such action taken by the NY AG?

Not in particular, but I don't think that would preclude this victim from getting some assistance from an office apparently willing and able to help.

Contracts between scammer and hotel are not binding on consumers. (Also, I don't think hold harmless means what you think it does, based on your usage here.)

But contracts between the scammer and the customer are not binding on the hotel either. If it were so easy to go after these hotel operators and even perhaps their corporate overlords, why hasn't it happened? You'd think this would be ripe for a big class action and attorneys would be falling over themselves to get in on the action. Perhaps you could also explain to me what hold harmless really means instead of the innuendo?
