Time Warner Plans to Cut Netflix Out of Your Cord Cutting Future - by Bryan Clark/ Insider/ TNW Home/ thenextweb.com

"Less than 24 hours after reporting Time Warner’s completely out-of-touch idea to woo back cord cutters by showing fewer commercials, we’re now seeing there is indeed more to its plan.

They plan to piss off Netflix users.

“We are evaluating whether to retain our rights for a longer period of time and forego or delay certain content licensing. This would effectively push the [subscription video] window for content on our networks to a multi-year period more consistent with traditional syndication,” said CEO Jeff Bewkes during yesterday’s earnings call.

Translation: Rather than licensing reruns to Netflix, Time Warner is instead evaluating its current content licensing agreements to see if they might be better served by retaining the rights and syndicating the content on its own networks..."

Just to clarify this issue.

Time Warner Cable in not at all affiliated with Time Warner. Time Warner split off TWC years ago. Totally separate entity.

Time Warner does however own the production and created shows such as Big Bang Theory, and also owns TBS, CNN, Warner Brothers studios.

What this sounds like is that they will not release popular content to Netflix so quickly.

Sorry I have no idea when or what content Netflix acquires. I just wanted everyone to be aware of the relationship between Time Warner, Time Warner Cable and how it affects the streaming providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime,

Facepalm!

How can I forget. HBO is also a Time Warner property. So this means that TW will hold back on releasing your favorite shows to Netflix, and Amazon!
