time share license vs deed

in doing research for getting rid of my Edgewater Beach timeshare, I was reminded of the issues with the original developer, the involvement of the Mass AG office, and the years of fighting to get registration of the time share. Initially we were led to believe it would be registered as a deed, but ultimately, it became a time-share license. Purchased in 2006, the license wasn't recorded until 2014. I can't find anywhere a description of what makes this different from a deed, and what obligations may differ. Being clueless, we trusted in the board there to guide us, rather than pursue any recourse on our own, ie release of obligation.
Will there now be an issue in selling/transferring this, should anyone be willing to take it?
