I assume this is new...

Slipped under the door the night before that states the current Late Checkout process -

To check availability for a late checkout, please dial "0." A fee does apply:
11 am | $50
12 pm | $100
1 pm | $150
2 pm | $200

There was more than stated here. Hope this isn't endemic...

I've always had trouble adjusting from the Noon checkout (hotel) to the 10am (timeshare), but I understand it.

The longstanding rule at MVC is no late checkouts. Yes, I know those who have elite status expected late checkouts as if it were a hotel, and they made "exceptions". I guess that slippery slope led to this landslide. Likely just soft-backboned deterrence, to reduce the number of of requests. Very few will pay for that.

Had they been firm at 10am for all, it would not have led to this. But that's where we are as a society these days.

Wow, $50 an hour is a powerful deterrent but I also understand it. Having my room ready when I arrive is more important to me than late checkout. I have asked for late checkout before but I don't bother during high season stays. I do like those resorts that have locker rooms in the fitness center for those late flight occasions.

We got an hour extension (11am) @ Timber Lodge on MLK Day without a fee. So perhaps the extra fee is aligned with weeks owner check-in?

It's all about perspective I suppose. When we go to Aruba we virtually almost always fly home the day before our usage ends because we tend to take flights that don't leave until late afternoon otherwise our last day is wasted sitting around lobbies and airports if we wait until check out day. I am not checking out at 10 and then not fly out until 5ish with nothing to do unless we want to shower etc in the gym. We've tried in the past to get late checkouts with the best we could do being 11 or noon. Then we've tried paying for the extra day but that usually meant moving which is even more of a pita.
For $200 we would get the extra beach day and check out at the perfect time for our flight. I'm praying that the OC starts offering this in the future.

Yea, it all sounds rosy until the roles are reversed and you cannot check in until 6pm (or later) because the people in front of you paid $200 to stay in your villa until 2pm.

Well said, but the best way to resolve that is to take the $200 from the person who was accommodated and give in to the person who is denied a 4 pm check in because of someone staying late!

Now everyone is happy :whoopie:

Or to use the $200 to pay for more staff to ensure everyone can check in by 4 pm.

We were only there for 2 or 3 days, ending on a Friday, so they may do this under certain conditions, like Friday and Saturday departures. Who knows...
