A 2BR lockoff EY platinum summer week at Timber Lodge sold for $5,200 on Ebay today. I was going to snipe it but my computer had a hickup and my bid didn't get in. This is an incredibly deal in spite of the fact that most of your 2009 M&T's will be wasted because the best weeks are taken for next summer. I think these weeks go for at least $15K on the resale market - Marriott is getting $25K - $30K for them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&item=310107337678

Actually it appears these weeks go for around $5K on the resale market. :D

Curious as to where you get your info that platinum 2BR lockoff Timber Lodge weeks go for $5K regularly? The lowest price I've ever seen or heard of on a platinum summer 2BR was $10K for the one I bought about a year ago. I've seen 2BR gold weeks go for quite a bit more than this. All 2BR's at TL are lockoffs.

I think she was indicating that the market just told you what they are now worth. I too was watching this auction, but was not willing to spend more than $3700.

Yes, I was pointing out that E-Bay is also part of the resale market. What weeks sell for there is what weeks sell for on the resale market. The resale market of the past may be different, but what this week sold for on E-Bay is a decent indication of its worth in today’s market, though not the only indicator.

I've watched every Timber Lodge that has sold on Ebay over the 18 mos. There have only been 2 platinum summer weeks sold during this time that I can remember, a 1BR that I bought for about $2K a few months ago and this one. Both were from the same seller who doesn't have the best reputation but who IMHO does know what they're doing. I've seen gold 2BR TL weeks go for as much as this not long ago. I think the low price on this one was a function of the seller, the economy, and the time of the year which makes your 2009 M&T's essentially being part of the cost of the TS since the prime July & Aug weeks are taken. Marriott is selling (or at least trying to sell) the 2BR summer weeks for $31.5K. I talked to a broker today at Paradise TS sales which is located very close to TL and she said the lowest price she had ever seen a 2BR summer week sell for was $16.5K.

This seller doesn't have the best reputation, and he also said the resort was in North Carolina! (Although that is actually an easy mistake to make, given eBay's software.) So, some people may have had second thoughts about buying from him.

The ad says the MF at this resort is $698.60. Is that right? Are there ANY two- bedroom Marriotts with MFs that low?

Also, is summer in Lake Tahoe higher season than Christmas/New Years?

The MF quoted are correct according to the historical MF listing in the FAQ. Though remember that in California, taxes are billed separately to the owner by the county.

are taking hits just like everything else, you couldn't touch a white week in Palm Desert for less than $5000 a year ago. This one sold for 2000 go figure:banana:
