Am planning next trip.

Hoping to fly to San Francisco in Sept, staying few nights, driving to Yosemite for another few nights then driving to Timber Lodge for 7 nights.

Questions:

How many nights do we need to see most of San Fran? Husband's been before but it's my first time. Also where to stay? Notice Ritz Carlton no longer available with DC points which is a shame.

How many nights in Yosemite - any recommendations where to stay?

Shall I book Timber Lodge with points (only need a 1BR). Or would it be an easy exchange that time of year? And is there plenty to do for one whole week?

As always thanks fellow Tuggers!

I believe you can still book the Ritz Carlton Club and Residences via the DC. I see it listed on the 2017 points chart that recently came out.

...Timber Lodge... Or would it be an easy exchange that time of year? And is there plenty to do for one whole week?

Just for the heck of it, I took a look at Sept availability and didn't see any. I did see October availability. Maybe there just aren't any Sept units in inventory. I don't think that a Sept. unit would be a particularly difficult trade if you are trading with a Marriott, as it has close to an average Travel Demand (TDI) in Sept. I've got exchanges in both June and July. You should put in your exchange request as early as possible. If you are trading with a non-Marriott, your chances are considerably less.

Yosemite? It is close to 4 hours drive from Tahoe. So I would suggest 2 nights. That way you can spend an entire day exploring the park plus have a little bit extra time on the arrival/departure days. There are some Forest service cabins in the park, but I think they are fairly "rustic". You may want to study a map and consider lodging outside of the park. I have stayed in Mariposa, which is on the Western side of Yosemite and perhaps 10 miles away. On the other side is Lee Vining which also has some lodging. Kings Canyon and Sequoia National park are also close by and interesting to check out.

The past few years we have gone to Tahoe for an entire week and stay at the Timberlodge. We always seem to have things to do and a week seems just about perfect for us. I enjoy hiking (Eagle Lake, Van Sickle bi-state park, etc.), Horse back riding (Zephyr Cove or Camp Richardson), Paddlewheel boat ride to Emerald bay, Mount Talac historical site, good restaurants, general sight seeing, etc. We also participate in the Marriott sponsored activities. Last time we went to Virginia City, NV. which was fun. About an hour away from Tahoe there is Bodie, Ca. - - a large old mining town that was turned into a National Park. Worth checking out if you enjoy things like that.

Timber Lodge, Grand Residence Tahoe or Ritz Carlton?

Thanks for the replies.
Happy to hear I can book San Fran Ritz Carlton, I was looking in the wrong place!
Then discovered we can stay at Lake Tahoe Ritz Carton.
Has anyone stayed there? Is it close to a supermarket?

When I looked at a map, it looks like it is 3-5 miles from anything but ski runs. (I encourage you to look at a map with a satellite view). There are some restaurants in the area (perhaps 3-4 miles away), but there is an abundance of restaurants in South Lake Tahoe, the other end of the lake. While it is probably a great place to go for skiing or for a couple of days of relaxing, I don't think that I would choose it for a 1 week stay in Sept. But, that is just me...
