I believe the death toll has reached Four. I have never experienced so much Illegal fireworks in my life until I lived on Oahu. The amount of fireworks on New Years is amazing.

I have heard that, but this one amazed me when I read it. Imagine how many fireworks you have to have in 1 place to kill & injure that many people. They must have had a huge box of them and everyone was standing around looking into it. What is the "standing radius" for "dozens of people"? mind-boggling

We saw the fireworks from our Lanai all over Honolulu New Years Eve Night. It was more than we have seen before. We also saw the amount of cleanup of not only fireworks debris but building and other destruction of material that the explosion created. They reported this like a war zone and when I saw the pictures this morning it certainly looks like it.

In Hawaii now and heard on the news that "someone" had a container of illegal fireworks shipped in from somewhere. Sad.
Maybe we'll hear more over the next week or so.

Another person died of injuries. So we're up to four.

Fireworks on New Year's is one of those "it's our culture" things. Like lifted Toyota trucks and pit bulls.

Fireworks yes. But massive illegal fire works no. No ameratures should ever attempt to use this large number of massive fireworks. IMHO

The fireworks displays in Hawaii always amazed me. Not really that surprising something went wrong.
