I was at Safeway today to pick up a few tomatoes and other little items. I took one of those plastic bags and struggled for about 5 minutes to open it. Since I was wearing a mask I could not lick my fingers...I ripped the top a bit to see if I could grab a small section. Nope...nada. Took another bag and it would not open for me either.
Darn...my solution was to just walk away, grab a few other produce items I needed for tonight's salad and get a paper bag from the mushroom section for my tomatoes.

I was complaining to a woman beside me and she said she had the same problem. A woman from the flower department walked over and let us in on a technique that worked like a hot darn. She pointed to those water nozzles above the produce and suggested to just touch them...get a drop of water on your hands and then try to open the bag. It worked so well. Just passing it on.

I do the same thing. rub a finger on damp produce then the bags open easily. In these days of Covid licking fingers that have been handling groceries/carts/steering wheel seems pretty risky if we're not supposed to touch faces. If you carry a pocket size Purell (you should) a drop of that will also work.

A friend suggested using those stickers you find on produce...works like a charm. The worst plastic bags are the meat bags at Costco. I always use one for the rotiserie chicken as well as other meats. I also use a dab of hand sanitizer if I can't find anything else that works.
