Last year we flew to Milwaukee for a nephew's wedding. Flight cost per person about $200. This June we go back for a niece's wedding. Cost $300 per person. I booked Southwest last night as I doubt airfare will drop.
What we do for family. I am committed to attend every family wedding, and all the children of my siblings are hitting or into their 20s. So this is the price we pay for love.
If, perchance, SWA has a sale, can I get a refund?

Credit for future flights IF taken within 1 YEAR of original (this) purchase date in the name of the SAME person who had cancelled.

NO cost to rebook ...

SWA will not refund your money but will give you a credit you can use like cash on another flight. I booked a flight once and then saw the cost of the same flight go down. I called SWA, they cancelled the flight, gave me a credit which I then used to rebook the same flight with credit dollars left over that I was able to use on another flight. Easy.

Just yesterday I purchased a RT fare. Today, it is $10 less each way. I logged onto SWA, cancelled the trip I had booked yesterday. Those funds went into reserve. I then proceeded to rebook that exact same flights, used the reserved funds to pay for it, and have $24 left over for any future flight within a year. It was easy. Did it at 6:30 a.m. at my computer, in my nightgown.

The trick is to remember you have remaining travel funds. You will need the confirmation code from your cancelled flight when it comes time to use them. You will need to input that code when you book.

Thanks! The fare dropped $20 one way. I was afraid to cancel and rebook in case I messed up. A FAQ page at SWA explained to go into your itinerary and select the new price. Very easy. We have the credits and will travel again in the next year. Hope we can use them.
Will keep checking the rates. TUGGERS are awesome.

This feature and "bags fly free" are two reminders of how customer friendly Southwest used to be. But my bottom line is that they lost me as a customer when they revamped their Frequent Flyer Program.

I think one way may have dropped again, but I can't find out what I paid for each leg. Is there a way to see this under my account? It only shows finel round trip price. I tried to make the change (without confirming unless last page showed a decrease in our overall fare) and SWA bugged out on me.

If someone else books a roundtrip Southwest ticket for you (travel dept. of a big company) how easy is it to make a change?

I wouldn't want a refund. I'm sure that would go back to the corporate travel department anyways. But what if I want to just modify the return to stay a couple of extra days? Or instead of flying back home as ticketed, change the return flight to go to a different city? Could I do that as long as the new ticket is still in my name? I would be fine with paying any extra costs above the original return ticket value.

Thanks!

You can log onto SWA and use your flight's confirmation code to bring up your itinerary. It should show the legs of your flight and how much you paid for each leg. There is a link on the right side of the page for changing your itinerary. If you can't find that, just call SWA and talk to someone. They've always been very pleasant and helpful to me when I've called.
