This Final Jeopardy Answer About an MLB Team Stumps Contestants - by Nick Schwartz/ FTW|MLB/ Sports/ usatoday.com

"Getting a sports-themed Final Jeopardy! answer would be a dream for sports fans, but all three contestants from Friday’s episode bombed this MLB answer that even baseball diehards might have trouble solving.

Contestants Matt Akridge (Chicago Cubs), Zelda Pulliam (Minnesota Twins) and Josh Silverman (New York Mets) each provided an incorrect question, losing a combined $28,001.

What makes this particular Final Jeopardy difficult is how the answer is written. It forces the contestants to figure out why a name needs to be translated, what MLB team names could be translated, and what language to translate to or from, all in a few seconds. There’s a lot to unpack. After you figure that out, you then have to identify a double redundancy..."

I did see this episode and couldn't come up with it but the answer was obvious.
I was traveling and missed what happened to a contestant who had won over two hundred thousand, had tied Chou for most victories the last time I saw the show. any one know what happened to him?

After going through the 30 teams in my head I got it. Not sure if I would have got it if I was on the show.

Hi Rapmarks,

He lost a couple of days before the MLB Final Jeopardy show. He was leading by $200 going into the Final Jeopardy Question which he missed and the other contestant answered correctly ( don't remember the question). He won over $400,000 during his winning streak.

Don't worry - you will get to see him again soon during Jeopardy's Tournament of Champions.

Best Regards

Richard

It Was Matt Jackson. He ended up with $411,612 & 12 shows. He will be back in Nov. for the Tournament of Champions. You can see highlights, interviews, full shows at www.jeopardy.com

I'll be honest, I thought it was easy and came to me right away. Not sure why.

I thought that Jennings had the longest Jeopardy winning streak?

yes, you are right, I think Chou was in 4th place the last time I watched and Matt had tied him.

I watched the show, and I got the answer right away. (Impressed the family quite admirably, actually.) But truth be told, it's only because I've heard the question asked before, and knew what the right answer was. ;)

I should have gotten it; they're our home team. Never did like the name though.

Right, I would second guess supporting a team that sold out to a city close by that already has their own team.
