We just got back from Lakeshore Reserve, a one bedroom in the Messina bldg, and had a great time as usual. We noticed that the housekeeping was a third-party company and they were very helpful but imperfect. We wonder how many Marriotts are going to third-party housekeeping? We didn’t notice it at our recent stays at surf watch or Sabal, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t third-party.
When we checked in, we noticed there was a different type of coffee maker. It looked like it didn’t take a carafe, but maybe a travel cup… But there were no travel cups in the room. So we called housekeeping and they brought us another coffee maker almost immediately. But then we noticed the carafe didn’t match the coffee maker, it was too short to reach the filter apparatus. We didn’t bother calling again. We just held the carafe up so that the coffee would flow into it every morning.
The first night we go to get into the bed and we noticed that there is no fitted sheet. They have a top sheet that doesn’t fit the whole bed because it was 11 o’clock, we decided not to call, but pulled down the extra bedding and took one of the flat sheets from that and fitted it around our bed. The next morning we asked for a fitted sheet we ended up getting two deliveries. One was a fitted sheet and one was a flat sheet—-oh well…

The kitchen faucet set up, has the faucet handle separate from the pulldown sprayer… every time you turn the knob to put water on water came out of the knob and was pouring on the counter. We did mention this. We find it hard to believe that no one reported this already. It was impossible to miss.
Once again, a resort that only gives you four packets of cascade. I think when people are coming in for a week they need to give you seven packets. We always bring extra since we’re driving, but for what we pay for these resorts, they should give us enough cascade to do a load every night even if we’re just doing breakfast and lunch dishes, we still run the dishwasher.
We love going this time of year to Orlando because it generally rains a bit in the afternoon and cools it down. But we’re starting to see a trend at Lakeshore that the weekends are overcrowded, then the midweek is much less crowded. We don’t know if they offer day passes or it’s just people coming in just for the weekends. We may start doing Sunday through Friday instead of including weekends. The pool current is fantastic when the pool isn’t overcrowded, but it gets harder to navigate when you have groups of people just hanging out talking to each other…..
Final note, the pressure to attend a sales meeting and a Lee Brice concert were unbelievable. I actually spoke to the sales woman twice before we got there and there was at least three other times she called that I just ignored it. We didn’t go to the concierge’s desk on check-in just so I wouldn’t have to deal with more pressure. But yes, we had at least three phone calls that we didn’t answer in our room. They must really be having a hard time getting people to do the presentations.
As I said, we had a great week. These are minor issues but especially with respect to the coffee maker we expect better from Marriott.
