Unfortunately, because of the economy, this is a terrible time to sell a timeshare. Prices are way, way down. Even at the top resorts, like yours, timeshares are selling for 50% of retail or less. Because of the upcoming assessments, there will probably be a lot of units on the market, bringing down the price even more. If you can ride it out, and wait to sell it when the economy improves, you will get more out of it.

It looks like you are probably a Starwood Elite member - have you considered the fact that you will lose your 5 Star Elite status if you sell a week and fall below the number of required Staroptions?

For info. about selling your timeshare, see the "How to Sell" article at the top of the Buying Selling Renting Board.

Good luck!

There are a myriad of resources for selling your timeshare. You can sell it on ebay (with or without a reserve), you can list it on one of the many timeshare resale sites (including Tug, Redweek, SellMyTimeshareNow.com, MyResortNetwork.com), or you can hire a broker, two of which are active on this site.

Unfortunately for you, it's a buyer's market. Prices have fallen and new unheard of bargains are announced every day. There are literally thousands of listings out there, some of which are completely unrealistic in what they are listing for (one wonders if some owners even spot check the sites to see what a comparable unit is listed for before they list it. Why would I pay $50k for a unit when an identical unit is listed for $30k).

I can tell you from experience that when I listed my WKORV-N at a price that beat every other on the site, I got zero serious inquiries. I can also tell you that agents' commissions run the gamut. One broker wanted $800 to sell my unit; another wanted several thousand.

No matter where it's listed, you need to price it right if you want it to stand out from the others. You might also book a popular 2009 summer week now so that you can entice potential buyers with it.

Good luck to you!!

There are a lot of options for sellers to use. The main objective is where your pricing is and the qualities of the ownership.

As you can tell from reading some of the posts on Tug, there are certainly buyers out there but the price is a big motivator.

Which one of your ownerships are you trying to sell?

Jim - I'm sorry, but TUG rules do not allow specific info. regarding a week for sale to be posted in the forums- I deleted that info. from the OP's post. You can send kenzie a pm, of course.
