I know it's last minute for timeshare exchanges, but can anyone recommend a large theme park in this country other than disney world or land. I would like to bring my teenagers someplace different this summer if possible. Obviously at this point in time, it would have to be someplace not too difficult to exchange into. Busch gardens in Virginia or Tampa might have to do, but I was hoping for a part of the country we have not yet visited.

My dd enjoyed Hershey Park. DH and the kids also like the various Six Flags. Lagoon is near SLC. If you stay at any of the various timeshares in northern Utah including Park City, you could go to Lagoon Park for a day--and have six days left to do something else like hike, bike, climb, take in some culture (symphony, theater, dance, etc), go fishing, boating, hot air ballooning . . . .

Oh, I noticed you said "large" theme park. Lagoon is not large--a day is all you need. http://www.lagoonpark.com/ The Beach Boys actually sang about Lagoon in their song about SLC. Personally, I don't enjoy thrill rides and so it is hard for me to recommend anything. Even Disney is something I do only when the rest of the family insists on going.

Personally, I'd hit Williamsburg VA. Between the history of the area and Busch Gardens...it's a great location and will keep you busy for days.

Carowinds sits on the borders of the Carolinas.

Six Flags in sooo many places, but I'm thinking St Louis right now.

Great America's are scattered also

King's Island in Cincinnati

Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH

you could do paramounts kings dominion and do DC

Presidential resort (RCI) is only about 30 minutes from kings dominion and you are still close enough to do a day trip or two to DC. personally, I still prefer BG, even though KD is just 45 minutes from us. But if your kids are into nickolodean (sp?), spongebob, etc. and thrill rides, then KD is pretty good--also, they have a large water park that is included in admission price. usually blockbusters sells VERY discounted tickets---or you can get them online, as well.
If you went to Presidential, you could also do the whole civil war battlefield thing, as you are near fredericksburg.

Theme park list and links

Either Tampa or Williamsburg areas are nice but it seems you wanted something else. Have you been to Canada Wonderland near Toronto,it was a Paramount Park like King's Dominion. We went a long time ago. We also did the park thing every year with our boys.

Here is a list of theme parks. Don't know about timeshares in the area but how about Cedar Point in Ohio. It's noted for its coasters.

San Antonio-lots to do and Six Flags.Fiesta Texas

Lot of parks in California.

Here's another link from The Travel Channel, they always run show on theme parks.

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. My teens especially love Islands of Adventure. You could also do a day at Sea World while you're there, and Busch Gardens. We made a trip to Orlando a few years ago and did 8 parks in 9 days, including Cape Canaveral. (Not a park, I know, but it was lumped in with all the rest.)
