The Top Ten Books That Influenced J.R.R. Tolkien by Rebecca Joines Schinsky

A few years ago I was reading a very interesting book - 'The Man Who Loved China' by Simon Winchester

In that book Simon mentions a book that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien - 'The Worm Ouroboros' by Eric Rücker Eddison.

I had meant to post that information here on Tug for Tolkien fans. However, the file where I had the information on my old Droid was incompatible with my newer Android phone and I was not able to retrieve the data. I came across a reference to Tolkien today and decided to do a search to try to find out more information about 'The Worm Ouroboros' and discovered
the above link.

And for those interested - here's a Review Link to the Simon Winchester Book - http://simonwinchester.com/books/the-man-who-loved-china/

Nice info, Richard. Sadly, I haven't read any of them on that list. But do I get points for reading those four Tolkien books, a lot of Terry Brooks' Shannara stuff, and virtually everything Pern written by Anne McCaffrey? :)

I've only heard of two of them.
Dave, you and I must have duplicate libraries. I also read anything by R. A. Salvatore.
