We are going to The Royal Haciendas in the middle of March. Is it worth it to rent a car and does renting a car make travel more dangerous?
And what are the don't miss things to do in the area.
Thank you
Wayne

We were at the Royal Haciendas in November, the Grand Luxxe a week ago and we are going to Cancun in 5 weeks. We always rent a car. For us it is the convenience--I do not do buses. If you follow the traffic laws you should not have any trouble. We felt very safe.

We've stayed at Royal Haciendas twice and did not rent a car either time (or in Cancun when we stayed there previously at a Royal resort) - we took the in-house transfer to and from the airport, and used the resort shuttle to Playa just about every day, at least in one direction. Last time we also took a tour arranged through the tour desk to Coba, a cenote and a cave in one day - highly recommended.

In Cancun now, checking into the RH tomorrow. We rent a car every year. I'd tell you about the best spots not to miss, but sorry, can't do that. Last time I did that was many years ago, and let the cat out of the bag about Akumal. Akumal has never been the same.

I've been traveling for 30 years plus.. I've rented cars most places I've been... But will not rent a car in CUN.... First off, the public transportation is exceptional... Taxi and bus..... Reason for not renting a car in CUN: Too many war stories about corrupt cops and when in CUN; I stick to the Hotel Zone...Twelve miles of FUN,sun, Beach, Restaurants, etc
