We are getting a lot of reminders in Knoxville this year due to the 40th anniversary of the 1982 World's Fair. My husband (who I married two years later) performed there frequently. I had an employee pass (due to a part time job with one of the vendors) but never actually worked there. I'm saddened now by how little I actually saw of the fair, since I was working two jobs and didn't have a lot of time. I think I only went to one of the pavilions (China) and rode the big Ferris wheel once. I attended closing day, watching the band. I remember eating Petros there, which became a local chain afterwards. The World came to Knoxville and I basically missed it.

I wanted to go to the next Fair in New Orleans a couple of years later, but my husband refused.
