If you are looking at buying a deeded ownership, the deed will be tied to a view category, and you will be entitled to make a reservation, space available, for one week in the view category associated with the deed. The view categories are Ocean Front; Ocean View; Partial Ocean View; and Garden View. There also some deeds that are not attached to a view category- these are known as "float-float" weeks. An owner of a float-float week can reserve in any view category.
The other type of ownership is an interest in the Hawaii Collection. The Hawaii Collection is a trust that owns units at a collection of resorts, including Point at Poipu. Essentially, the trust owns deeds for some of the units at Poipu, so when someone owns trust points, they have an indirect interest in Poipu, as well as all of the other properties in which the trust owns property. I believe that at present the Hawaii Collection owns about 60% (maybe more) of the deeds at Poipu.
When you buy an ownership in the Hawaii Collection, you are buying an ownership, and that ownership is recorded in points. So you might buy a Hawaii Collection interest that is, say, 20,000 points. You then use those points to make reservations throughout the Hawaii Collection.
