I just got this via email. Haven't tried it yet, but I plan to later tonight.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

a small splash of vanilla extract

Add dry ingredients to one large coffee mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Edit to add: I just tried it and it's yummy! I didn't have chocolate chips to add to it, but I'm sure that would taste really good. I put some vanilla ice cream on it and I'm enjoying it now.

I added to my original post above after making it. I wish I had a can of ready-made chocolate frosting. That would be delicious on this cake, but it's still great with ice cream.

I'm a party pooper

That does sound yummy, and definitely dangerous

Using nonfat milk, I just calculated 24 Weight Watchers points, 20 if you skip the chocolate chips. That's almost my entire allotment for a whole day!

1 Tbs veg oil has 14 fat grams, so that's 42 fat grams...and about 1,000 calories!

In contrast, one of those molten chocolate microwave cakes by Betty Crocker, has 8 points and about 360 calories - add water and microwave for 3 minutes. Only one thing to measure, and nothing to wash!

I think I'll go eat one of my little tiny Weight Watchers chocolate cakes - 1 point, but only about 3 small bites worth. :bawl: :bawl:

Near the sea.
I would mix the dough in another container, spray the mug with Pam, and cook less than 5 minutes. It was a little dry, enough for 2-3 people, the chocolate chips helped, and the vanilla ice cream made it delisssh. Since it was so baaaaaaaaad anyway, I substituted 3 tlb. butter for the oil (which I hate in baked goods). Really is enough for 3 people.

Ack! 3 Tablespoons of oil? That's alot for one mug, isn't it? If you could ditch the oil, substitute Splenda for sugar, Eggbeaters and skim milk, it might be worth it.

I sometimes buy the Guiltless Gourmet chocolate cakes. They come in a little plastic bowl - reminds me of Easy Bake Oven cakes, microwave for 30 seconds and have 200 calories.

That's exactly what I was thinking. That's a LOT of fat in one serving!

The 1,000 calories is for the WHOLE cake, not just the oil - the oil is about 300 of those calories.

I don't think you could ditch the oil completely - but maybe use only 1/3 or half as much fat, and sub butter for oil so it adds flavor? Add water or applesauce for the missing 2 TBS?

Or what the heck - splurge and enjoy!

That sounds good.

This reminds me of an old tv commercial: "I can't believe I ate the whole thing!"

Deb

Try to substitue oil with applesauce.
