Anyone see this article. It was posted in my feed. No new news here just sort of surprised to see this in Forbes. Makes me sort of wonder if this is some sort of Native Advertising.

It doesn't seem to have any disclosures that it was paid for by MVC. It seems the writer writer has many other articles about travel, hotels and such. I suspect just a paid contributor for content for Forbes and perhaps some other websites.

Don't believe that there necessarily needs to be a disclosure. I get so many pushed content via various feeds that contain content relating to various topics and links that take me to another site where I am presented with the product or service being sold. My cookies and history profile is mined and then the Data Gods push the echo chamber of hidden content they think I want to see based on my hidden profile.

That is the beauty of Native Advertising. It is curated to look like an authentic content of a story. In actuality it is a hidden advert.

While this wikipedia refers to disclosures there are many forms of disclosures and rules surrounding this. Problem is who is regulating the content marketplace. I am sure the rules can be skirted with little to no penalty.

I would expect an operation like Forbes wouldn't try to skirt the rules. Content creators on Instagram or YouTube do it quite regularity.

I do not believe that this article is well written. I’m surprised that Forbes would lower themselves to this level of journalism, which, clearly, was not Fact Checked (sound familiar, on this Election Day eve).

I think the "Forbes" name has a lot of people thinking higher about this media outfit than they should. Forbes online media is one of the biggest clickbait offenders across the news aggregator sites (Google, Yahoo, Apple.) Incessant repeat articles with clearly paid placement, paywalls and popup ads. The "articles" are more fluff than substance, as this third party author's clueless Abound description proves.

Thank you for saying essentially what I was going to say. Forbes was once a respected name in journalism, but now they are a click bait site with no real journalistic standards, they just trade on the brand value of their name. It's sad.

I would say the article is well written for someone who has just been introduced to timeshares, clearly has most of their info from the MVC (likely sales) side and is just getting started learning about them. It's the same view many come away with when introduced to timeshares on a promo stay. We all here know there's the rest of the story which is quite a different tale of many of the points made.

That's was my take on the article as well. I would guess the author purchased a vacation promo package, and then wrote an article based on that experience. I am not sure MVC or any of the hotel branded timeshares go out of their way to let you know they are a different company from the hotel company.

I saw this article in my feed a week or so ago, as well. I actually left it in a tab on my phone because I was considering reaching out to the author to correct a number of issues with the article. I obviously have not done that, since this thread just reminded me of it. As others have posted, this article is not well written, and if read to be the whole truth, would not entice anyone to pursue MVC, in my opinion.
