For those of you that vacationed at, and loved Shawnee in the Poconos, there is a group of short videos posted by Chris (The Activities Guy) showing the last days of the resort from about February to April There are 45 videos in all, and most of them are short (under 3 minutes). Enjoy!

It seemed like a pretty lonely place.

Looks liked an episode from the television show "The Twilight Zone."

It's so sad. We hadn't been there in years, but I remember going around 2000 and they had karaoke on Saturday night, and a whole crowd of local regulars came to get together and sing. We enjoyed our vacations there.

I went twice over the years. Stayed in River Village 1 near the Shawnee Inn (OLD OLD OLD) and then the Summit units the second time. We loved the location and all the amenities. Did not love that we were always late getting into our units. I have never participated in a more cut-throat Bingo game than in that place, either! ;) Sad to see it go.

We stayed there many times over the years, both with our kids and more recently just the 2 of us, in various sections. It was an easy 8 hour drive for us and we always found lots to do and see in the area.
We almost didnt return after our first stay in the early '90s. We were there with our 3 then young children and went out every day to do stuff. On our 3rd or 4th day we returned at lunch time and when pulling up to our unit we saw the front door wide open. I knew I had been the last one out and had pulled it closed tight behind me when we left earlier. DH went in and told the rest of us to stay in the car. Soon after he went in I heard him yell 'what are you doing' so I jumped out of the car and ran in. DH had found a staff member rummaging through the drawers in our bedroom. We dont know if she was a cleaner or what, but she took off running out the front door and across the parking lot. The kids said she did not get into a car that they could see. There was no mid-week cleaning at that time. We looked to see if anything was missing (there wasnt), then drove over to the office to report what had happened. The manager was very apologetic and promised to look into it. The woman ran off so fast we didnt notice a name tag but I was able to say what she had been wearing. We never heard another thing during our week and I left a review with the resort and RCI about our stay. RCI refunded our Extra Vacation week cost, the resort did nothing.

How do you know? Maybe she was fired.
Yes, if they found out who it was she might have been fired, but the manager never responded to say the matter had been taken care of. We dont even know if she was a current employee or a former employee with a master key.

I watched all the videos. It was neat to see the last days of the property. I just wish they were all in order. They started out fine but toward the end kinda went all over the place.

Yeah... I believe this is the first time he's done anything like this so it was a bit unorganized.
