We bought a promotional package to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village next year but we are in Oahu now. I really wanted to see the Kihei model and ask some questions too so we stopped by the HHV but that particular model could not be shown.

They have ripped out the floor of the Kihei condo model and are putting a new floor in but the salesman showed us another model instead. It looked nice but was rather small but he told us that the real condo would be larger but there was lack of space here where the model is. Not all the models are the same so the Kihei model may be different anyway.

I tried to get more information on the Kihei resort so the person called the Sales Manager over and he said that they are going to build in Kihei but they are still waiting on the final approval of the building plans or permits or whatever they need to get.

We all know how difficult Maui is. He also told us that he wasn't allowed to give us any sales information (point requirements or prices) until the Hilton has the proper real estate public report to sell in Maui.

I don't remember all the right terminology but they were very courteous while they were very busy too. Couples came in for tours constantly and were shown individually. It may have been courtesy tours too?

The weather has been very nice this September because the trade winds keep it pleasant. The evenings are super balmy so perfect for walking and early in the morning too to walk on the beach.

I'm glad you are enjoying your time there, it is a wonderful place. I will be happy when we get concrete evidence of construction, and I hope TUGgers will check the property when they are on Maui.

June seems like a long time away...

I could use a Hawaii trip right now after today's Chargers game....

Best,

Greg

I have a client that was on Maui last week, he sent some pics to me and there is no signs of construction. We are at the tail end of two weeks on the Big Island, Kings for one week and a Villa at the Bay Club the second. At our owners update we were told that the construction is delayed a year, with HGVC going public and separating from Hilton they are financing it on their own as opposed to an investors group. My interpretation was that the original investor group backed out because they weren't going to be tied to Hilton but that's my take, not from the HGVC rep - he was very positive. Showed us drawings that showed a private beach and third story villas that would have an unobstructed view of the ocean. Looks like 2018/19 before anything concrete.

When are they hoping to be done with the resort in Kihei? I saw nothing going on, and I mean nothing at all. I could have been looking in the wrong place, but we drove over to the supposed site several times. Nothing. I saw a big tractor once.

December update: no news! Had an owner's update at King's Land last week and asked. They said something about it being a hole in the ground right now, but don't know if that was figuratively speaking or they started digging something. Asking about how many points, they said "premium levels" as in higher than the usual (maybe like NYC?). They showed us a "probable" chart of points and were going to make a copy before we left, but we forgot to ask for it. Also, it will be limited to owners there the first year at least.
