I guess I just need to vent and maybe find some fellow owners who share my frustration with Hyatt. I've owned at Desert Oasis (Palm Springs area) for 30 years. The resort had its ups and downs under Welk management (mostly downs) but at least they treated the owners well. However, Hyatt has managed to even screw that up. I went to pay my maintenance dues on the website and discovered that the payment site (even though it is linked to Hyatt) is separate from the Hyatt Vacation Club site and to get there you have to accept a disclaimer that the absolves Hyatt of any responsibility if things go wrong. But what could possibly go wrong with an online financial transaction in this day and age? So despite all that I deduced to check out the payment site and to call it primitive is an insult to primitive websites everywhere. It has all the appeal of a third world spoofing site. To top it off, if you want to pay by credit card, there is a $25.00 service fee. Needless to say, I didn't give the site either my credit card, bank account info or $25.
I then decided to book a reservation for 2026 (we have an 18-month reservation window). Anyway, I screwed up and booked a Saturday to Saturday instead of a Friday to Friday like I wanted. Okay, I thought I could just go on and modify the reservation (Hilton lets you do it. Wyndham lets you do it. I imagine even Motel 6 lets you do it.). Well even though the site has a tab to change a reservation--no luck. The only option is to cancel and rebook. No big deal except for the FIFTY DOLLAR cancellation fee. I thought, that can't be right, so I called Owner Services. No luck again. Even though the reservation was barely 30 minutes old-for a week 17 months in advance--the price to cancel is $50 bucks.
So the bottom line is that after 30 years, I think I need a divorce.
