The NY Entrance
to the Holland Tunnel

On this date in 1927 the world's first long, mechanically-ventilated underwater tunnel, the Holland Tunnel, opened between New York and New Jersey beneath the Hudson River. The tunnel is named for Clifford Milburn Holland, its chief engineer, who died before the project was completed. The tunnel is made up of two tubes located in the mud beneath the river, each with two lanes. The north tube is 8,558 ft (2.61 km) long; the south tube is 8,371 ft (2.55 km).

I like that quote. It reminds me of the quote I put in my HS yearbook beside my picture.

"I have no desire to die. I have a desire to not exist."

I feel different now :hi:

Glad that that is the case!
