What really requires a new description are people who think everything requires a new description. I guess that is mini-nerf-football hail instead of baseball hail,

I think that they used to refer to that size a "softball", but there are several sizes of softballs.

Years ago, my daughter's car was totaled after a hailstorm with maybe marble-sized hail, much milder than the one in Texas. Every horizontal surface looked like someone had taken a ball peen hammer to it.

Once upon a time, my family were on a ferry to Vancouver Island and a family, who had gone to Detroit to watch their new car being built (anybody remember when that was a 'thing'?) got into a hail storm on the way home and their car looked like it had been pummeled by hammers. That's a memory that stuck!

Back in 2022, we had a very localized hailstorm in Sebring, Florida, where we have our mobile home. There was considerable damage to our home requiring a new roof, replacement of our carport roof pans, 2 windows and more. The hailstones were much larger than golf balls!

our car windshield was totally smashed and the car had hundreds of big dents. After we had the windshield replaced, the car was still drivable, and when we returned home to Canada, our insurance company wrote it off, so we had to get a new car.

Texas hit by record-breaking spiked hailstones the size of a PINEAPPLE
