Here is an interesting study using cell phone technology; targeting those present during Spring Break this year on the beach at Ft. Lauderdale. Massive numbers of (mostly) young people ignored physical distancing guidelines and no one intervened. Florida is now one of the Covid-19 hot spots. The study tracks the paths of those at the beach to show how they disburse across the nation after Spring Break and the massive potential for spreading Covid-19.

Protect yourselves, your families, your neighbours and most importantly, reduce the risk to those essential workers (such as truck drivers, grocery and pharmacy employees) and police, fire and health professionals who must face this deadly disease on the front lines of this battle every day. And if you are one of those health, emergency or other essential workers, thank you for your bravery, professionalism, service and sacrifice. May God protect you and keep you safe!!

For the rest of us, as someone observed the other day, our parents, grandparents or great-grandparents were asked to put their lives on the line to battle WWI and WWII. In many cases they spent years in muddy trenches, hellish jungles and storm-tossed seas and were often away from home for years, all the while facing potential imminent death from the enemy. All most of us are being asked to do in this great pandemic is to stay home and stop socializing on a physical basis for a few weeks, maybe a few months. Is that really such a sacrifice?
