Baseball parks have been retro since Camden Yards, it's natural that the trend will begin to reverse.

I love architecture. And I love baseball. When living in Chicago, I really enjoyed taking the El to Wrigley Field and watching day games. Guys would be sitting out reading the newspaper while the game was going on. The hot dogs were especially good.

Then we moved to Texas and we got to see the Rangers lose it what would have been a large high school field. Aluminum bleachers in Texas with no shade --- who thought that was a good idea.

Then came the new ballpark. Lovely, high brick walls which provided shade. Completely changed the ambiance of the baseball experience. Such a positive improvement that going to games was enjoyable again.

The new Miami baseball field reminds me of the new Cowboys Stadium. It is more modern, edgier. Change can be good. I think that what will matter is how it "feels."

Miami Marlins Strike Out During Opening Ceremony

Miami Marlins Strike Out During Park's Opening Ceremony - by Greg Cote/ Sports/ The Miami Herald.com

Consensus seems to be that Marlins Stadium in nice with terrific views of downtown Miami. However, public access to the stadium is lame and parking problems abound for those who wish to drive.

Most agree with Greg that the Opening Ceremony bombed.
