Sorry could not resist. If you were around the tri state area in the 80s you could not get away from the Crazy Eddie commercials.

I could watch those big waves all day long! I'm glad they were able to hold the event this year.

Watched two Eddie contests in person, both were extremely crowded on the beach. The vibe at Waimea is something else. Used to ride there a lot but my body just can't handle it anymore. I'm amazed at the guys who still do it in their sixties.

I heard they had 30 ft waves at Ocean Bch in SF over hte last wk. That seems even crazier to me. I've been to both Waimea & to Ocean Bch only a couple times each, but I expect the Big Ones in Waimea.

waves were twice as high (yes, 60 feet) at Maverick's, about 20 miles south of SF
Yes, thanks. I was thinking about Maverick's as I wrote about Ocean Bch. Maverick's is a different animal, being, what, about 1 mile offshore. I was thinking more about someone walking a dog on Ocean Bch and a 30 ft wave comes crashing in. Prob lousy weather and no dog-walkers.
