I loved the work of Jay Ward, Bill Scott and
Ponsonby Britt cartoons. They were edgy and as I grew up, there were some pretty good double entendres.
The voice talent was clasic:
- Alan Reed
- June Foray
- Hans Conried
- Paul Frees
- William Conrad
- Daws Butler
I remember seeing Alan Reed (voice of Fred Flintstone) in an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show ("The Masterpiece") playing the auctioneer. Also, in this episode was Howard Morris (Ernest T Bass and many other voice characters) as the art expert.
Paul Frees had an amazing voice and dubbed voices in movies. You probably remember him in:
- The War of the Worlds - Dictating into a tape recorder as the military prepares the atomic bomb for use against the invading Martians
- The Time Machine - The apocalyptic voice for the "talking rings" in which he explains the ultimate fate of humanity from which the time traveler realizes the origin of the Morlocks and Eloi.
