I get this newsletter weekly. I so wished there was something like these in New England, but they simply do not exist. So had to settle for a community that is technically not age restricted but kind of like a 55+ one as most of the residents are older. Has a small pool and a nice small clubhouse with a billiard table and a big screen TV and gas fireplace and a kitchen and bathroom, tables and chairs, but no gym,and the mailboxes are in there and a few activities that residents arrange. It is in a touristy area near a big, popular lake and some golf courses, so lots of boaters and golfers also.

Only 80+ smallish homes that are on only 10 1/2 acres so very close together on tiny lots that used to be for tents and trailers/RV's, and many people are snowbirds. Community has it's own Facebook page and web page for the HOA (fee is low- covers lawn care and plowing of the road and trash), and because it is small you get to know people's names and faces. I guess you could say it is quaint. (and that is the New England vibe).

But the community is nothing like these places on the list, which are like resorts! Many of them look fabulous! Of course, most every one of them is in a warm climate.

We looked at four of the top ten, and eight of the top twenty but it was 16 to almost twenty years ago. When we looked at top of the world, they had golf but no tee times, seemed real disorganized. Solivita was just getting started. Tried to look at a couple of the sun cities and could not get in. Severe in our fifties when we looked at sun city and we thought everyone was in their eighties.
