The 10 Movies People Love Watching Over and Over and Over Again - by Madison Malone Kircher/ Tech Insider/ Tech News/ businessinsider.com

"Do you have a favorite movie that never seems to get old no matter how many times you've watched it?

You're not the only one.

Using data from over 1,000 people, Walt Hickey at Five Thirty Eight put together a list of the 25 most rewatchable movies of all time.

Turns out, when it comes to rewatching movies, many people have pretty similar taste.

Of course, it's not an exact science. For several entries, Hickey had to interpret whether the person meant an individual film or an entire series, such as "Harry Potter" or "Star Wars."

There is also a difference between the movies men like to watch, and the ones women like to watch.

How many of these movies have you seen?..."

For me, I'd add 'Casablanca' to the list - "Here's looking at you, kid."

Some I have watched more than once, but I don't make a point of it. My guys, however, can watch so many so often! They love Shawshank Redemption.

There are very few movies that I would watch again and again, but The Wizard of Oz is at or near the top of that list.

I would add "A Few Good Men" to the list for me. It has gotten to the point where I can lip sync along with Jack Nicholson's courtroom speech. :D

Three of my husband's favorite-watch over and over-in no particular order: Fifth Element (totally wacky science fiction); Bedazzled (Elizabeth Hurley) and Harold & Maude. I have actually never sat all the way thru a showing of Harold & Maude but, I'm sure he likes the movie sound track...

WHAT! No Monty Python in that group? I shudder to remember how many times I watch those (whole or part).

Groundhog Day.

Oh Alan, I just detest that movie. Way too annoying. Sort of like What About Bob? Or is it just Bill Murray in particular that bugs me?

Not mentioned yet:
The Searchers - "What if you'd missed?" "It never occurred to me."
Same Time Next Year - "All right, I didn't think it through"
The Four Seasons - "Are you really afraid of your underwear?"

Not sure what I find so appealing about these, but I do:
Starting Over - "You bought the couch"
Foul Play - "That's right, honey. You've attacked an innocent dwarf."

Oh for goodness sakes, why has no one mentioned "Dirty Dancing"?

I have only seen four of the movies on the list and only three of them more than once.

My tastes are different than most others in many areas. I do re-watch some of my favs a couple times a year.

I can not sit through It's a wonderful life another time.

Captain Ron

Gone Fishin'

Mixed Nuts (a Christmas time must for us.)

There are a few others I re-watch but less frequently.

The nice thing about growing older and having some 'age-related memory loss' is that EVERY movie is worth watching again and again. You just don't remember whether you've seen it or not... It's like the first time every time you see it. :)

That's the only one on the list I've not seen. I've watched all the others a minimum of four times with a few at least fifteen.

I agree with the suggestion of Used Cars as a movie to watch many times; trust me, it is worth your time. However, it would be in my top thirty, but not ten. There are two movies I think belong on the list; Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Blazing Saddles belong. I would rather watch Blazing Saddles over any movie on the list except Shawshank Redemption. Fortunately, I never have to chose one over the other rather just one before the other.

Some of My Favorites

I have to agree with the inclusion of The Shawshank Redemption -1994 as one of my all time favorite movies. One of my favorite quotes from that movie was given by Tim Robbins in the role of Andy: "Get busy living, or get busy dying."

Also, The Godfather is definitely worthy of being in my top ten favorite movies: When I read the original novel the description of the Horse's Head in the bed got my attention and that scene in the movie version was almost as good.

Others that would get my vote as worthy of the Top Ten include:

The Great Escape - 1963

Steve McQueen as Hilts: "Wait a minute. You aren't seriously suggesting that if I get through the wire... and case everything out there... and don't get picked up... to turn myself in and get thrown back in the cooler for a couple of months so you can get the information you need?"

Cool Hand Luke - 1967

Strother Martin as Captain: "What we got here is failure to communicate."

"Bullitt" - 1968

Epic car chase scene with Steve McQueen driving a 1968 Mustang GT 390 Fastback.

The Wild Bunch - 1969

William Holdern: “If they move, kill ’em!”

I think you meant to say William Holden.
