Sorry to bring this old thing up again, but I have been searching through any thread talking about this and they are all about 3 years old at this point and I just want to verify. Does this mean that I am blocked out of just the one HICV resort for 3 years or all of them? The wording in "Urgent Info" states:

"The 1-in-3 Year Rule applies to 1-for-1 exchanges. The only exception is if you are an owner at the resort, a club owner, or confirming Extra Vacations. The 1-in-3 Year Rule applies to all Holiday Inn Club Vacations resorts."

I have seen other threads saying it is just the one that you are staying at, but they didn't post the exact wording, so I wasn't sure if this had been updated, or if this is the same wording but still means the same thing. TIA.

I believe it is per resort, because I just exchanged into Orange Lake West Village and the instructions read that the 1-in-3 rule applies to each of the villages in the Orange Lake Complex. Because they stipulated this, I assumed that the 1-in-3 generally applies to the resort booked only.

That was also my assumption specifically based on the Orange Lake grouping being worded so differently, but I thought I would ask again in case anyone felt that it had changed since a couple years ago. Thank you!

So if I exchange my timeshare week that is NOT affiliated with HICV then, the 1 in 3 rule applies? So I can only exchange my timeshare week to stay at Orange Lake once in every 3 years? But there are no restrictions on Vacation Certificates? Is that right?

Here's what I found on my most recent RCI booking in HICV Scottsdale:

1-N-3 Year rule applies to 1-4-1 exchanges. If consecutive weeks booked cannot confirm again for 3 years from start date of last week confirmed. Does not apply to Extra Vacations, rentals, and HIVC Members

I've no idea what it means, grammatically speaking. Can someone translate and explain?

What is the date for you HICV scottsdale exchange? Let's say it is December 31, 2021. That means you can't make another exchange into weeks inventory there until after 12/31/2024. You can still book an extra vacation.

I've found this on HICV Orange Lake in RCI:

The 1-in-3 Year Rule applies to 1-for-1 exchanges. The only exception are if you are an owner, an OLCC Club Owner or confirming Extra Vacations. The 1-in-3 Year Rule is a group rule that applies to all four Holiday Inn Orange Lake properties 0670, 8881, 8896, and 8897. If consecutive weeks are booked, you cannot confirm again for 3 years from start date of last week confirmed. You can confirm other HICV resorts the next year. The 1-in-3 year rule does not apply for consecutive weeks that are booked in the same calendar year.

At least this one is clearly worded.

BUT! "You can confirm other HICV resorts the next year" is pretty clear visiting two different HICV resorts (e.g. Scottsdale and Orange Lake) in a single year is verboten. Am I right or am I wrong here?

There's still something that makes me think that maybe it's not a case. What constitutes a "1-for-1 exchange"? As a HGVC member, I book with points - I don't deposit any properties into RCI. Thoughts on that?

That wording likely predates point-based trading in mini systems, it’s probably not an out for those who use them. What it is meant to mean is: does not apply to cash extra vacations.

if it is into weeks inventory it is considered a 1 for 1 exchange. It's 1 week for 1 week worth of points using the HGVC grid.
