TVs and technology are a big part of our lives, and they aren’t going away. So how can you protect your family?

Someone is going to be very bored and waste a lot of their time if they’re spying on me. Maybe it’s because I worked in the IT field but I’m not afraid of technology. There have been technical advances throughout history, some used for good, some not. The problem is the humans, not the technology. And those humans that would do harm are going to use whatever means they can. If it isn’t my smart TV, they’ll find something else. This particular article does provide a few steps to take to help ensure your privacy. But, I have seen a lot of other articles and news stories in the past few months that are just trying to scare people.

I’ll take reasonable steps to protect myself but I’m not going to stop enjoying the technology that enhances my life and makes it easier and more enjoyable. If I do, the bad humans have already won.

Our phones, TVs, Ring Door Bell, baby monitors.our banks.....it goes on and on. I think they would be a bit bored with us here too :D

Thank you for the article. We should tape the laptop/desktop and tv.....but again.......nothing secretive here/exciting going on. Now if we stay overnight at a hotel.......I do start wondering if anyone is watching us......

BFD. Since my whole life history was stolen by the Chinese from the OPM during a security breach, I haven’t worried about so-called “privacy”:D I have so many fraud alerts, credit monitoring services etc, from this and other breaches, it took me an inordinate amount of time to get a new credit card account:rolleyes:.

Even though my tv has no camera, I like the hi tech solution of a piece of tape over the lens:D

Cheers

FWIW...the camera on my PC came with a lens cover. We erased our Alexa history. Nothing to see but why make it easier for criminals.

I have nothing of value to steal in my car but I still lock the doors. Same applies to home surveillance.
